purple and orange sky in pastels on sanded paper   SOLD
"Jake" pastel on velour paper.

Friday, August 2, 2013

I have been having fun painting horses in pastel. The dappled one is on sanded paper and the black one is one velour paper, I like using them both but especially like the velour for animals. It gives a softness to the fur.

Cold day

Good morning, Pretty cold here in Ohio today 7 degrees, but ,alas, it is January. I will probably go down to my studio and see what I can get into. I have been playing with used teabags and made these bird paintings on them and added dried flowers. I think I might make a couple more today. I am going to be in a craft show in September and need to build up my stock. I don't normally do craft shows but it is near my home and it's free to set up.It is at a park run by the county. A nice place with walking trails etc. Better  get busy before I waste the whole day at my computer. LOL

Black- capped chickadee

Another teabag art project   SOLD

Hummingbird with flowers

I decided to try something a little different today. I adhered a used teabag to watercolor paper, drew and painted a hummer, then added dried flowers, It is 5x7 in an 8x 10 white mat. I like the way it turned out. I am working on a black-capped chickadee now.

I've been doing some graphite and some charcoal drawing. I love doing faces. Especially children and well seasoned faces. I have tried my hand at several methods I found on the internet and in books and am enjoying it a lot. I just finished this drawing of my great-niece , Lucy.I took the reference from the family Christmas card of all three girls. I toned the whole background with graphite then drew her face and picked out highlights with an eraser. This is the first time I have tried this method an kinda like the way it turned out.

Watercolor faces

  SOLD

SOLD

It's been a loooong time since I posted

Hi friends, I have been doing more watercolors. I have been painting some faces and have joined an art journal sketching group on Facebook which I am enjoying very much. I started by making a 4 x 6 sketchbook and have been sitting on my patio sketching things around me. I also made a larger sketchbook and have purchased one. I have never tried sketching with a pen before so am learning about pens, their nib sizes, inks and paper. I will post some pics. If anyone does journal sketching please leave me a message and we can swap info.

When the sun goes Down

This is on a 5.5 x 5.5 inch gallery wrapped canvas. I started by painting with acrylics then added collage with Citrasolv papers. Citrasolv papers are made by painting National Geographic pages with the solvent that melts the ink, smush them around and wonderful texture emerges.
